Shrimp in Garlic Wine Sauce

A classic Cuban way to prepare shrimp. This dish is on the menu of many Cuban restaurants.

1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup olive oil
8 cloves garlic, finely minced
2 pounds raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/2 cup white wine
1/4 cup chopped cilantro

In a sauce pan, melt the butter and oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and saute for 1 minute. Add the shrimp and cook 2 to 3 minutes. Add the wine and cook 2 minutes, stirring frequently.

Place shrimp in bowl, pour sauce over shrimp and sprinkle with cilantro. Serve with white or yellow rice and fried plantains.

Serves 6 to 8
